Blue Eagles Athletic Training Staff Kim Bressler; MAEd, LAT, ATC Kim Bressler begins her 21st season as part of Blue Eagle Athletics. She joined the Blue Eagle athletic training staff in August of 2004 as Assistant Athletic Trainer. She was promoted to Head Athletic Trainer in the Spring of 2008. Originally from Louisburg, NC, Kim received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise and Sport Science with an emphasis in Athletic Training from East Carolina University. Continuing her post graduate education, she worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at East Carolina University, teaching in the Exercise and Sport Science program while pursuing a Master’s of Education Degree in Athletic Administration. While a student in East Carolina University's Athletic Training program, Kim had the opportunity to gain valuable experience while providing care for various ECU Pirate, NCAA Division I, athletic teams including football, volleyball, softball and swimming and diving to name a few. Upon graduation, Kim moved to Memphis, TN and spent six years teaching Physical Education to students at Collierville Elementary School in Collierville, TN. Throughout her time as an athletic trainer for Blue Eagle athletics, Kim has been on the sidelines providing care for many Blue Eagle athletic teams that have made appearances in region playoff, upperstate championship and state championship games. She was part of the athletic training staffs providing care for the 2007 Clover High School Football State Champion team, 2015 Clover High School Softball State Champion team and the 2021 Clover High School Women's Basketball State Championship team. Kim has been honored by her peers with selection as the athletic trainer for a number of All-Star games. The 2019 Shrine Bowl of The Carolinas, Athletic Trainer, (South Carolina Team). Kim has been a Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC) Certified Athletic Trainer since 2001. Kim is also a State Certified Athletic Trainer (SCAT) through the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC). She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers' Association (MAATA) and the South Carolina Athletic Trainers' Association (SCATA). In addition to her duties as an athletic trainer, Kim instructs in the Health Science Program at Clover High School currently teaching Sports Medicine 1, Sports Medicine 2 and Sports Medicine 3. She is an adviser for the Clover High School Athletic Training Student Aide program where she enjoys teaching students about the Sports Medicine field. Kim also serves as a clinical preceptor for Winthrop University's Athletic Training Program. In her free time, Kim enjoys spending time outside with family and friends, cycling and going to ball games cheering on her favorite sports teams. Kim resides in Clover with her husband Matt who is also an athletic trainer at Clover High School.
Matt Bressler, MS, LAT, ATC Associate Head Athletic Trainer Email: matthew.bressler@clover.k12.sc.us Matt Bressler begins his 17th year with Blue Eagle Athletics. Matt graduated from Appalachian State University with Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with a concentration in Athletic Training and Sports Medicine. Matt also holds a Master of Science in Human Movement Science/Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Memphis. Matt has had a long interest in athletic training and sports medicine beginning his experience in the field working as an athletic training student aide for Gate City High School (Gate City, VA) and continuing on as a student in Appalachian State University’s Athletic Training Program. Matt has gained valuable athletic training experience at multiple settings in the athletic training field. He began his professional career working in a physical therapy clinic/outreach setting where he assisted with patient care in clinic, as well providing outreach athletic training services to local high schools in the southwest VA and east TN area. Matt also has 12 years of experience working with collegiate athletics at varying levels. Matt served as graduate assistant athletic trainer for NCAA Division 1 University of Memphis working with football, women’s soccer and baseball. He served as Head Athletic Trainer for Freed Hardeman University, overseeing medical care for the schools NAIA athletics program. Prior to joining Clover High School, Matt was a member of Limestone Universities athletic training staff, working primarily with the university’s baseball, women’s soccer, and basketball teams. In the 15 years as an athletic trainer for the Blue Eagles, Matt has provided care to successful CHS athletics teams with region, upper state and state Championship games notably the 2015 State Champion Softball team and Men’s soccer's Upperstate Championship and State Final appearance. Matt along with Kim served as an athletic trainer for the 2016 North / South Wrestling Allstar tournament. Most recently, Matt has been selected to be the athletic trainer for the North team in the 2021 Touchstone Energy Cooperative’s North/South Football Bowl game. Matt is Member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers Association (MAATA) and South Carolina Athletic Trainer’s Association (SCATA). Matt has been a Board of Certification (BOC) certified athletic Trainer since May of 1991 and is currently a South Carolina State Certified Athletic Trainer (SCAT). Matt is a faculty member in CSD CTE Departments Health Science program teaching Sports Medicine 1, Sports Medicine 3 and EMS 1. Matt also serves as preceptor for Winthrop University’s Athletic Training Program. Matt enjoys cycling and kayaking as well as spending time with family and friends in his free time. Matt resides in Clover with his wife Kim who is also an athletic trainer at Clover High School.
Justin Cheek enters his 5th year as a part of Blue Eagles Athletics. Cheek joined the Blue Eagle athletic training staff in January of 2020 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer after serving fifteen years on staff at Limestone University. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Cheek eventually moved to the south where he completed his undergraduate work at Limestone, earning a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in 2003. Following graduation from Limestone, Cheek was hired by his alma mater as an intern athletic trainer and eventually moved to a full-time staff position where he served as an assistant athletic trainer and clinical preceptor in the Athletic Training Education Program. During his career with the Limestone Saints, Cheek gained valuable multi-sport experience, which included a 15-year run with the Limestone men’s soccer program that saw great success during that time. This run included 13 top-3 finishes in conference play, six Conference Carolinas Tournament Championships, five Conference Carolinas Regular Season Titles, nine NCAA Tournament appearances, and five final NSCAA national rankings. Cheek also spent time with Limestone’s nationally ranked men’s and women’s lacrosse programs, which included appearances in the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse National Championship in 2004 and 2019, and an NCAA Women’s Lacrosse National semi-final appearance in 2008. Cheek also has extensive experience with track & field, basketball, baseball, wrestling, and tennis. Over the last seventeen years, Cheek has also had the distinct pleasure of serving as an athletic trainer at Duke University for summer basketball camps, providing medical coverage for Coach Mike Krzyzewski’s Boys’ Basketball Camp and Duke Basketball’s K-Academy Fantasy Camp. While serving Clover Athletics as an athletic trainer, Cheek also teaches Sports Medicine 1 at the Clover High School 9th Grade Campus and also serves as a clinical preceptor for the Winthrop University Athletic Training Program. Since 2005, Cheek has been certified by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC). Cheek is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), South Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association (SCATA), the Soccer Athletic Trainers’ Society (SATS), and the Lacrosse Athletic Trainers’ Society (LATS). Cheek resides in Gaffney, South Carolina with his labradoodle, Charlie. During his down time, he is an avid Duke Basketball supporter and enjoys spending time with his family, outdoor activities, playing guitar and piano, and carpentry.
Alina begins her 2nd year with Blue Eagle Athletics. She moved to Rock Hill from Spartanburg to begin her college education with undergraduate in Athletic Training. During her undergraduate studies, she had the opportunity to work with Blue Eagle Nation as an intern in 2017. After graduation, she obtained her masters degree in Sport and Fitness Administration while providing athletic training services to the Winthrop Dance department.
